Tabernacle Choir Christmas

We just got home from Salt Lake. Two years in a row now the weather has been disastrous for the trip home. When we went to briefing a 7:30 it was raining. For anyone unknowing, Denise and I volunteer at conference Center events to work security and medical teams. It costs some money because it is volunteer, but what a reward. When we got done about 11:00 it was snowing. The freeway had about 2" of slush all the way to Layton before it gradually began to diminish until Tremonton where the road was now just wet. Poor Denise is looking for a blind fold both for the conditions and my driving. I try to be safe but I am depending on others to do the same. ABS saved us right after we pulled out of the conference center parking. The slush and a stop light nearly caused a fender bender were it not for ABS.

The concert is always tremendous. I never leave there but I am deeply touched by both the quality and detail of the production, the music and the spiritual closeness it brings. Natalie Cole and David McCullough (1776) were the guests. Natalie was not the most powerful of the singers we have seen but she did better Saturday and Sunday. There was an organ solo that was absolutely phenomenal! If you get to watch the Tabernacle presentation the 20th of December it should be the one from today, you will get to see it. Besides the MTC, the orchestra and the Bells there was a children's choir of likely 100 and around a hundred dancers. One of the pieces the choir and dancers did was a presentation of carols and related dances from Spain, Ireland, Jamaica and Russia. The one from Jamaica touch me as it was a song of thanks for one more Christmas. David McCullogh commented Sunday morning that he was soo impressed by the quality of excellence he saw in all that is done by the Church.

The Sunday broadcast is always touching for the special thanks and song presented to the visiting artists. They actually always do the song, "Till we Meet Again" every week. It just has a lot of significance due to the short stay of the artist who are also not generally members. We always enjoy working the concerts especially this one.
